IPL 2022: Jason Roy pulls out of the tournament: The IPL month is arrived, and all of the teams will shortly begin their training camps in preparation for the ten-team event, which will begin on March 26th. Teams built their squads from the ground up during the blockbuster auction in February, and all eyes were on the two new teams to see how they would go about their business.
Gujarat Titans, one of the two new teams in the IPL, have a very strong lineup when compared to some of the other teams, but they have been dealt a major setback ahead of the season with the withdrawal of their star opener.
Jason Roy will not play in IPL 2022
Prior to the auction, the Gujarat Titans selected Shubman Gill, a very talented spin bowler, in the draught. He can either start the game or play at third base, where he can manage the innings from 7 to 16 overs. Gujarat Titans wanted a decent pace hitter to complement the young Shubman Gill, and they grabbed Jason Roy for 2c in the auction, who is one of the greatest, if not the best, pace batters in the world. They fouled up the auction moving forward by paying a hefty 9 crore rupees for Rahul Tewatia when they already had Rashid Khan on their team.
Jason Roy has declared that he would not participate in the IPL this year because he needs to be in a bio bubble, which requires him to be away from his family, which includes his second child, who was due in January 2022. Jason Roy had a fantastic PSL season, which took place in a safe bio bubble environment, scoring 303 runs at a strike rate of 170 and an average of 50.
Shubman Gill is set to be Matthew Wade’s first opponent
In the absence of Jason Roy, the Gujarat Titans have Matthew Wade, who can fill in as a pace power hitter at the top of the order and build a solid partnership with Shubman Gill.
