CHE vs GT Dream11 Prediction:

  • Devon Conway is one of only two players still in the tournament who are averaging over 52 this year. The left-hander is a strong choice for Chennai Super Kings’ highest run scorer against Gujarat Titans. Deepak Chahar has taken 12 wickets from his last five games and we expect him to be Chennai Super Kings’ top wicket taker on Sunday.
  • Shubman Gill is the leading run scorer in the competition and has hit centuries in three of his last four innings. The opener is our pick for Gujarat Titans’ highest run scorer against Chennai Super Kings. Mohammed Shami is the leading wicket taker in the 2023 IPL and he is our tip for Gujarat Titans’ top wicket taker in this final.
  • Mohammed Shami has 10 wickets from his last four appearances at this venue and we recommend backing him to take over 1.5 wickets in Sunday’s tournament decider.

CHE vs GT Team NEWS:

CHE Team News:

Reflecting the difference in the conditions from Chepauk to Ahmedabad, we saw changes for Gujarat Titans on Friday and there will be talk in the Chennai camp over whether to pick an additional pace bowler or spinner in this game. Overall, we expect to see the same XI who beat Gujarat in the playoffs selected.

GT Team News:

There were changes for Gujarat Titans after their defeat to Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday on a slow and sticky wicket in Chepauk. There were no places for either Dasun Shanaka or Darshan Nalkande and we do not expect either player to return for this game.

CHE vs GT Team Combo:

 Winning Chances:

With the teams meeting for the third time this season and the second time within a week, it is fair to say that the players will be particularly well acquainted with each other. Chennai Super Kings got the win on Tuesday but that was in front of their home fans on a very different surface and we think that Gujarat Titans will benefit from home advantage.

Furthermore, even though Shubman Gill did not make a century in the playoff against Chennai, the only match in his last four that he has not hit a century, he still hit 42 runs. He is the form player of the tournament and we expect a big score from him on Sunday to help Gujarat Titans to take the title. Alongside him, Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan have been the standout bowlers across the 2023 IPL. Chennai Super Kings have quality in Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway but we do not see quite the same level as with their opponents. Our pick is for Gujarat Titans to win.

Chennai Super Kings have a 60% chance to win this match

Gujarat Titans have a 40% chance to win this match

Key Players:

CHENNAI

Ruturaj Gaikwad

the 26 year old opener has a particularly strong record against Gujarat Titans and has scored a half-century in each of the four matches against them. He has top scored for Chennai Super Kings in both games against Gujarat this season and averages 69.50 against this particular franchise.

Devon Conway

the New Zealander was nowhere near his most fluent or easy on the eye in the Qualifier 1 earlier in the week. However, he still managed to contribute 40 runs and he is a very important player for Chennai Super Kings. He has finished the match as their leading run scorer in six games across the IPL 2023.

Deepak Chahar

it has been a remarkable turnaround for the right-arm pace bowler who began the tournament with 13 wicketless overs across his opening four matches. Since then, he has dismissed some of the biggest names in the competition and picked up the wicket of both of Gujarat Titans openers earlier this week.

CHE Possible Impact Players Substitute

Matheesha Pathirana, Mitchell Santner, Subhranshu Senapati, Shaik Rasheed, Akash Singh

Although Akash Singh was used as the bowling impact substitute earlier in the tournament, Matheesha Pathirana has been very successful in the role in recent games and dismissed Vijay Shankar and Mohammed Shami on Tuesday. Akash Singh took wickets in each of his first four appearances in the competition.

GUJARAT

Shubman Gill

the Indian international opener went into Friday’s playoff match as the second highest run scorer but soon went past Faf du Plessis to be the leading batter in the tournament. He had never averaged over 35 in an IPL season before this year but currently averages 60.79 in this campaign.

Rashid Khan

on a tough bowling wicket against a strong batting line-up, Rashid Khan was used within the powerplay by his skipper against Mumbai Indians. He picked up two crucial wickets in the Qualifier 2. Firstly, he got Tilak Varma with the last ball of the powerplay and then removed the final dangerman, Tim David, in the 16th over.

Mohammed Shami

the pace bowler produced the goods early on once again for Gujarat Titans in the last match. However, he also conceded 24 runs from one over and will be keen to get a hold on his economy rate again in this match. He is particularly dangerous in the early overs but will be a threat throughout.

GT Possible Impact Players Substitute

Srikar Bharat, Sai Sudharsan, Jayant Yadav, Shivam Mavi, Odean Smith

Sai Sudharsan was retired out on 43 in the Qualifier 2 and hit 47 in his last innings as well. He is likely to be added to the side during the batting innings. Shivam Mavi is the obvious pace bowling choice if required for the team.

CHE vs GT Team Forms:

CSK Team Form:

Chennai Super Kings have won four of their last five matches and have lost only once during their last six games. However, they have lost all three of their matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium across their IPL history.

GT Team Form:

The defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the playoffs last Tuesday is Gujarat Titans’ only defeat from their last four games. The Titans have won five out of their eight matches at this venue in the 2023 IPL.
