IPL 2023 auction: Final squad of all teams and purse remaining

Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green are now the three most expensive players in Indian Premier League history.

The IPL Auction 2023, which ended on Friday, December 23, in Kochi, saw fierce competition from the ten IPL franchises. The tournament’s dates and program have not yet been released, but the incredible auction has caused the anticipation to soar. The T20 World Cup champions from England broke records during the sixteenth IPL auction.

As six teams competed for the services of the English all-rounder, Sam Curran emerged as the evening’s standout performer. He was ultimately acquired by Punjab Kings for a staggering INR 18.50 crore, making him the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history. Then, Australian player Cameron Green, the second-most expensive player in IPL history, seized the spotlight.

Green was signed by the five-time champion Mumbai Indians for a whopping INR 17.50 crore after registering at a base fee of INR 2 crore. Mumbai Indians outbid Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals in the auction. Ben Stokes, an all-rounder for England and a World Cup champion, was the second major acquisition of the IPL 2023 auction.

RCB, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, and Rajasthan Royals all made serious bids for the fashionable all-rounder. He eventually became the most expensive purchase in CSK history after being acquired for a whopping INR 16.25 crore. After purchasing Green and Stokes, respectively, MI and CSK’s wallets nearly ran dry, yet the two champion teams simultaneously acquired the best players.

As SRH went on to sign Harry Brook for INR 13.25 crores, their most expensive purchase throughout all IPL tournaments, it is clear that England players dominated the IPL Auction. Harry Brook self-registered at a base fee of INR 1.5 crore, and three franchises—RR, RCB, and SRH—bid for his services. However, the bidding battle ended up being quite competitive and favored SRH in the end.

Additionally, some astonishing and unexpected purchases were made, such the INR 16 crore paid by Lucknow Super Giants to hire Nicholas Pooran. While Kane Williamson, a Kiwi batter, was signed by Gujarat Titans at his base price of INR 2 crore, there was no competition for the former PBKS captain Mayank Agarwal, who was signed by SRH for INR 8.25 crore.

Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar received excellent contracts from Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, respectively, for INR 6 crore and INR 5.5 crore, while Narayan Jagadeesan, who recently made headlines for setting records at the Vijay Hazare Trophy, was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 90 lakh. When SRH and CSK signed uncapped talents Vivrant Sharma (worth INR 2.6 crore) and Nishant Sindhu (about INR 60 lakh), their signings also attracted attention.

Delhi Capitals acquired Rilee Rossouw for INR 4.6 crore from the group of players who weren’t purchased in the first round. Litton Das and Mandeep Singh went to KKR, while Akeal Hosein and Anmolpreet Singh went to SRH. At the very end, RR made a major splash by signing well-known players like Adam Zampa, KM Asif, and Murugan Ashwin. Overall, all 10 teams did a fantastic job at developing a solid team. The IPL 2023 will now be eagerly anticipated by fans.
