IPL 2022 Auction Date:

According to the latest sources, the mega auction for IPL 2022 will take place in Bangalore on February 12 and 13. The BCCI is also said to have called all of the teams on December 23 to confirm the major auction dates. While the BCCI has yet to issue an official statement, it is safe to assume that the IPL auction will take place on the above-mentioned dates.

The team will be working hard to assemble a strong squad ahead of the new season, as they will only be able to keep a maximum of four players. While the majority of the franchises have kept their best lot, they would like to improve it by bringing in some of the auction’s hot picks.

In the same vein, BCCI has called a conference with all franchise owners to examine alternative strategies in the wake of COVID-19 concerns. It is evident that the Indian board does not want the IPL 2022 to be held outside of India, but concerns about the Omicron COVID-19 variation may put a stop to some of their plans.

In the wake of the Omicron scare, the BCCI will meet with IPL franchise owners to consider alternate plans.

“The conference will mostly serve as an introduction, with the BCCI onboarding the owners of the two new teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.” If the Covid/Omicron issue worsens, they are considering staging the entire event in Mumbai and Pune, or in the Gujarat cities of Ahmedabad, Baroda, and Rajkot. “The owners will be informed of the options as well as what to expect in the mega auction,” said several franchise owners earlier, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

The two franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, will be creating their squads from the ground up, although they have been given the option of selecting three players outside of the major auction to ensure that they have a fair opportunity. Many players have been reported shaking hands with new owners, but no official confirmation from BCCI has yet been received.
