Info:

  • Sunil Narine hit another blistering innings of 71 runs from 32 balls against Punjab Kings on Friday and the opener is our tip for KKR’s highest run scorer against Delhi Capitals. Harshit Rana has a strike-rate of 16.00 in the tournament and the pacer is a strong choice for KKR’s top wicket taker in this game.
  • Jake Fraser-McGurk produced a brilliant innings once again in his last innings with 84 runs from 27 balls at the top of the order. The Australian is well worth backing as Delhi Capitals’ highest run scorer against KKR. Mukesh Kumar is yet to go wicketless in this campaign and the India international is our pick for Delhi Capitals’ top wicket taker on Monday.
  • With 24 sixes already in the 2024 IPL, we recommend selecting Sunil Narine to hit the most sixes in this fixture.

Toss Predictions

Eyebrows were raised when Sam Curran chose to field first at this ground on Friday but in spite of his side conceding 261/6, they were still able to win the match with time to spare! As a result, we predict that both skippers will want to field first in this game.

Weather & Pitch Report

Weather:

There will be no cloud cover throughout any of this match on Monday with the temperature likely to drop from around 36 degrees to 33 degrees. The humidity levels are predicted to go above 65% by the end of the contest.

In the last game at Eden Gardens we saw an incredible 523 runs and only eight wickets fall. Runs came easily throughout both innings and batters will be expected to hit boundaries from their first ball at the crease. Whoever bats first will be looking to post a total of at least 250 but even that may not be enough!

Team NEWS:

KKR Team News:

Mitchell Starc was left out of KKR’s XI for the last game with the team management briefing to the media that he had a slight injury. However, most pundits believed it was more due to his lack of form. But with KKR taking only one wicket with the ball in the last game, we expect the Australian to return.

DC Team News:

There were two new faces in the Delhi Capitals XI on Saturday afternoon at the Arun Jaitley Stadium with South African Lizaad Williams coming into the side along with Kumar Kushagra. Although Williams was wicketless and Kushagra didn’t get to bat, we expect the same XI to be selected for the trip to Kolkata.

Winning Chances:

Both of these teams have fearless batting line-ups as well as bowling attacks who have been hit around a fair bit across the tournament. As such, this could well be another high-scoring contest at Eden Gardens. We are predicting both teams to score over 240 but we think that KKR will benefit from their greater experience at home and will have learnt from their defeat on Friday to Punjab Kings. Our prediction is for KKR to win a close clash.

Kolkata Knight Riders to beat Delhi Capitals.

Kolkata Knight Riders a 75% chance to win this match

Delhi Capitals a 25% chance to win this match

Key Players:

Kolkata Knight Riders

Sunil Narine

the 35 year old has been producing with both bat and ball on a consistent basis in IPL 2024 season and Friday’s game was another with four overs costing only 24 runs as well as hitting 13 boundaries.

Phil Salt

the keeper-batter is a powerful hitter of the ball and finished with a strike-rate of 200+ after hitting 75 runs from 37 balls in the last game.

Harshit Rana

the 22 year old right-arm fast bowler conceded 61 runs in the last game but he will be keen to get back on track in this game at Eden Gardens where he had taken four wickets across the previous two matches.

Mitchell Starc

the Australian left-arm pace bowler has been expensive in the tournament but he is a very dangerous bowler and KKR could do with his attacking mentality with the ball in this game.

KKR Possible Impact Player Substitutes

Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Vaibhav Arora, Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Left-arm spinner Anuku Roy came into the side for the fielding innings against Punjab Kings but, along with nearly all of the rest of the attack, was very expensive. However, the pace off option is likely to appeal again on this pitch with Venkatesh Iyer the candidate to drop out from the batting innings.

Delhi Capitals

Jake Fraser-McGurk

it has been a remarkable introduction to the IPL from the young Australian who comes into this match averaging 49.40 and with a strike-rate of 237.50 from five innings.

Rishabh Pant

the keeper-batter-skipper had a tough time with poor results early in the tournament but impressed again on Saturday with 29 runs from only 19 balls.

Mukesh Kumar

the right-arm fast medium bowler has been very consistent in this campaign and arrives in Kolkata after taking three wickets against Mumbai Indians.

Kuldeep Yadav

the left-arm wrist spinner went wicketless on Saturday but still has an impressive strike-rate of 13.50 in this year’s IPL.

DC Possible Impact Player Substitutes

Rasikh Salam, Praveen Dubey, Vicky Ostwal, Ricky Bhui, Sumit Kumar

Right-arm medium fast bowler Rasikh came into the side again on Saturday and took three wickets whilst having the best economy rate so we expect him to play the same role during the bowling innings in this game.

Team Forms:

Kolkata Knight Riders are operating towards the top of the table but have lost three of their last five games.
