IPL 2023 Auction: 3 players that were released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could not be purchased in the auction
The IPL 2023 Auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi following BCCI’s conclusion of the retentions earlier this month. The board asked the players to submit a list of the players they wished to keep by November 15 before to the mega auction. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) kept 18 players, while releasing 8 players.
Chennai Super Kings have won the title twice in the last four years, in 2018 and 2021. With just four wins and ten losses, they finished ninth in the 2022 edition’s point standings.
There are a lot of well-known short-format performers on the list of players who have been made publicly known, and some of them are expected to be in high demand during the IPL 2023 auction. Others, though, could not catch the franchisees’ interest and go unsold at a later auction.
Let’s take a look at the three players that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released and who may not be purchased at the auction.
IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Released By Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Who Might Go Unsold In The Auction
1. C Hari Nishaanth:
C In no IPL game as of yet has Hari Nishaanth participated. He received his first-ever IPL contract from the Chennai Super Kings Team at the IPL Auction 2021. His skills were successfully procured by the CSK franchise for the initial sum of INR 20 lakh.
Till now, Hari Nishaanth has played in 19 T20 matches and got 18 chances to bat. Tamil Nadu’s batter has played 18 innings and scored 393 runs at a strike rate of 120.18. Nishaanth has recently struggled and is skeptical about his chances at the IPL 2022 auction.
2. K Bhagath Varma
K Bhagath Varma is yet to take the field in an IPL match. The Chennai Super Kings Team acquired the player from Hyderabad for his base price of INR 20 lakh at the IPL Auction 2021. Quite a bit is unknown about this off-spinner.
Thus, when the Chennai Super Kings increased their offer for the all-rounder with a base in Hyderabad, many observers were astonished. To get a slot in the auction, he will have to prevail against tough competition.
3. Dwayne Bravo
The biggest shock for the spectators came when they saw Dwayne Bravo’s name on the list of discharged players. The 39-year-old is now the IPL’s leading wicket-taker and spent eleven years working for CSK. Bravo has collected 183 wickets but it seems unlikely that any side will choose him given his elderly age.
Bravo had 16 wickets in the prior edition, but he was unable to participate due to Chennai’s potent batting order. Bravo hasn’t really displayed his all-around talent, scoring just 77 runs in the last three seasons.
