Info:

  • Shivam Dube has performed admirably well for CSK. He has scored runs in almost every game. Nearing the 250 run mark, Dube will be looking to make his presence felt once again when CSK returns to Chennai. Back him as CSK top batter. Ravindra Jadeja can be picked as the top bowler for CSK. He picked three wickets when CSK last played here. Since the ball is gripping and turning, Jadeja is a real threat for LSG.
  • KL Rahul will be key for LSG against CSK. His ability to play spin well could well decide if LSG can compete against CSK. He scored 82 when the teams last met. Back him as LSG top batter. Krunal Pandya will have a big role to play with his left arm spin in Chennai thus he could be a good pick for top LSG bowler.
  • We feel that Rachin Ravindra is due for a big score and he might be able to break the shackles against LSG. Back him to score more than 21.5 runs in the match.

Captains have preferred to chase at the MA Chidambaram Stadium as there is a good chance of restricting the team batting first to a low score.

Weather & Pitch Report

Weather:

The temperature will range between 35 and 28 degrees. The humidity will be 67 per cent and the wind speed will be 21 kmph.

Pitch Report:

The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium helps spinners and bowlers who use variations. However, the quick outfield and short boundaries also allow big runs being scored. Sensible cricket is required to score runs here. Play the ball on merit and rotate strike. When get a bad ball, deposit it into the stands, simple! 170-180 can be a good score to defend here.

Team NEWS:

CSK Team News:

Devon Conway has been ruled out for CSK and the franchise have named Richard Gleeson as his replacement. The concern though will be the form of Rachin Ravindra, who has lost his touch after initial good performance.  However, CSK are known to back young players. Also, Maheesh Theekshana should be back in the playing XI, replacing Deepak Chahar.

LSG Team News:

LSG coach Lance Klusener hinted that pacer Mayank Yadav is very close to making a return thus we may see Mayank replacing Yash Thakur or Mohsin Khan in the playing XI.

Winning Chances:

CSK are favourites to win for us. In home conditions, CSK are very hard to beat. They have a perfect combination for sluggish wickets thus most teams struggle to beat them at home. LSG defeated CSK in Lucknow but there is a great chance that CSK will return the favour in Chennai. The hosts are a better team on paper, especially the bowling given the conditions, thus, should emerge victorious.

Chennai Super Kings to beat Lucknow Super Giants.

Chennai Super Kings a 50% chance to win this match

Lucknow Super Giants a 50% chance to win this match

Key Players:

Chennai Super Kings

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gaikwad has shown good form in recent few games. He has scored 241 runs for the team. Runs from Gaikwad are a must as he is someone who can bind the innings together and allow the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Shivam Dube and batters to follow play their natural game.

Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube by far has been the best CSK batter. He will play a big role as he is excellent against the spinners and LSG rely a lot on their slower bowlers in middle overs. Him being a left hander will negate the threat of Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya so we can see another big innings from Dube.

Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja is a lethal bowler in Chennai as the ball grips and turn, making him unplayable at times. Jadeja also returned to form with the bat and scored a fifty against LSG in last game.

Matheesha Pathirana

Pathirana has been brilliant for CSK, taking nine wickets in four matches. Even though CSK lost to LSG in the last game, he was very tidy and gave just 29 runs. Pathirana at death is CSK’s ace weapon.

CSK Possible Impact Player Substitutes

Deepak Chahar, Nishant Sandhu, Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Shaik Rasheed

Sameer Rizvi has wasted opportunities for CSK so he might not get picked as impact player anymore. CSK can look at Shaik Rasheed or Nishant if they need a batter. In case of a bowler, Deepak Chahar can be used.

Lucknow Super Giants

KL Rahul

KL Rahul played a magnificent innings of 82 against CSK in Lucknow and helped his team fetch a win. He will be vital in Chennai as well as he is LSG’s best player of spin and the team would need him in the middle when CSK spinners come in to bowl.

Nicholas Pooran

Pooran has played a significant role in LSG’s wins this season. Game after game, Pooran has showed his match winning abilities in IPL 2024. He has scored 246 runs in 7 games at a strike rate of over 160 for LSG.

Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya can be handy against CSK. The conditions will suit his style of bowling while he can also add handy runs down the order which could prove to be decisive in a close game like this.

Marcus Stoinis

Stoinis can make big impact against CSK as the big hitter can take a toll on CSK spinners and don’t allow them to dictate terms. Also, Stoinis can chip in with a couple of crucial overs on the damp surface.

LSG Possible Impact Player Substitutes

M Siddharth, Arshad Khan, Amit Mishra, K Gowtham, Yudhvir Singh, Arshin Kulkarnie

M Siddharth could be handy for LSG as an extra spin option will help the team on a sluggish surface. If they need a batter, Arshin can be used.

Team Forms:

CSK Team Form:

CSK have played seven games, winning four and losing the other three matches in IPL 2024.

LSG Team Form:

LSG have been decent so far. Even though they have not dominated teams, they have done well to win four out of the seven games.

SQUAD:
