Lucknow has made KL Rahul the highest-paid player:
KL Rahul has become the highest-paid player in the new Indian Premier League (IPL) after signing with the Lucknow franchise for INR 17 crore (about US$ 2.3 million).
Not only that, but he is now the joint-highest-paid player in the IPL, alongside Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Virat Kohli, across all seasons. The Bengaluru franchise signed the former RCB captain for the same price ahead of the last big IPL auction in 2018.
Lucknow, one of the two new teams promoted to the IPL last October, will compete in next month’s big auction after also signing Australia allrounder Marcus Stoinis for INR 9.2 crore (about US$ 1.2 million) and uncapped Indian legspinner Ravi Bishnoi for INR 4 crore (approximately US$ 500,000).

1. KL Rahul:
KL Rahul (Lucknow) – Rs 17 crore
Lucknow paid Rs 17 crore for KL Rahul, who is spearheading India in the present ODI series in South Africa. He will also lead the team, which was purchased by the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group in October for Rs 7,090 crore (about USD 940 million).
Rahul began his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2013, then moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2014, then back to RCB in 2016, before being purchased by the Punjab franchise (formerly Kings XI Punjab) for Rs 11 crore in the 2018 auction.

2. Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma (MI) – Rs. 16 crore
Rishabh Pant (DC) – Rs. 16 crore
The three top players that were retained by their respective organisations are next on the list. The biggest gainers were Rishabh Pant, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, all of whom were retained for Rs. 16 crores each.

Virat Kohli (RCB) – Rs. 15 crore
Hardik Pandya (Ahmedabad) – Rs 15 crore
Rashid Khan (Ahmedabad) – Rs 15 crore
