Prior to the match against MI, PBKS’ spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi disclosed the injury status of Shikhar Dhawan.

PBKS spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi discussed Shikhar Dhawan’s injury during the press conference before the MI game. Joshi mentioned that the medical team is focused on rehabilitating the star batter and will keep the management informed of any progress.

The former Indian cricketer expressed confidence in stand-in skipper Sam Curran’s abilities to lead the team. Joshi highlighted Curran’s commendable performance from the previous season in the absence of the seasoned player.

As for Shikhar Dhawan’s status, the medical team will evaluate his condition and provide updates. Currently, he is undergoing rehabilitation,” stated Joshi, as reported by India Today.

“Sam Curran has taken on the captaincy role in Dhawan’s absence. He also led the team last year when Dhawan was sidelined, and he performed admirably. Therefore, we have full confidence in him,” Sunil added in his remarks.

Sanjay Bangar mentioned that Dhawan would be sidelined for approximately 7-10 days following an injury sustained during the game against RR. The PBKS batting coach affirmed Curran as the interim captain of the team. PBKS will encounter MI in Mullanpur in their next match. The former Indian spinner suggested that the home team might enjoy a slight advantage owing to the pitch conditions.

Sunil Joshi praises the consistent performance of our bowling unit in all aspects

Joshi emphasized the significance of bowlers in winning tournaments, contrasting it with batters who win individual matches. He highlighted PBKS’s strong performance as a bowling unit across all phases and stressed the importance of the top-order utilizing powerplay overs effectively. “Our bowling unit consistently delivers across the board. We’ve emphasized the need for our top-order to capitalize on powerplay overs,” added the PBKS coach.

Joshi noted that the home team holds an advantage due to the challenging pitch conditions, especially for visiting batters. He concluded by suggesting that PBKS might benefit from the unique bounce on the surface. “However, this pitch presents a challenge for all batters, particularly visitors, with its distinct bounce. It gives us an edge here,” Joshi concluded.
